5 Reasons Why You Should Get Involved with Your HOA

5 Reasons Why You Should Get Involved with Your HOA

Contrary to popular belief, your Home Owner's Association works for you, not the other way around. If you feel you are getting short shrift from your Association, you can choose to move. But if you really want to get your way, the best way to beat them is to join them. Here are the top 5 reasons you should take this course of action.

1. It's the Best Way to Maintain Your Property Value

Issues like lawn and lake maintenance don't tend to suddenly resolve themselves. If you feel that these vital areas aren't being taken care of properly, you can join your Association to draw attention to them. Property values need to be maintained, not just bragged about. The best way to make a difference is to make noise until it happens.

2. You Can Go on Record as a Problem Fixer

One of the very best ways to gain a whole new level of credence and standing in your community is to become known as a problem fixer. It's one thing to simply bring up existing problems at your local meeting. But it's a whole other to be known as someone who can not only identify serious problems but also propose innovative solutions.

3. It's a Great Way to Network

There are plenty of ways to network in any neighborhood. But if you live in an exclusive community, your Home Owners' Association meeting is an excellent way to make top-level connections.

You will meet people with whom you share common interests, and most especially, common goals. But you will also make lifelong connections with people who may prove very useful to know and rely on well outside of your weekly Association meetings.

4. You Can Gain Valuable Leadership Skills

Are you interested in finding the best way to be a leader? This is not a skill that comes naturally for most people. Standing up for your property at your local Association meeting is a great place to start. Not only do you get important issues addressed and taken care of, but you also learn how to lead and guide a community.

5. Don't Like the Rules? You Can Help Change Them

One of the best reasons to get involved is to help change rules that don't suit you. If you can't bring food to your community area or if you are sick of your neighbors holding parties at top volume, do something about it. Stand up for your rights and those of your friends at your very next Home Owners' Association meeting.

Now is your chance to get involved and help clean up your neighborhood. Getting involved with the Association means making your voice heard. It's a power and a privilege that you will soon come to respect and relish. Better yet, it's simply the most effective way to make a name for yourself while standing up for what's right.
