You should feel blessed. It's easy to take it for granted that we live in one of the most beautiful places on the planet. The Sunshine State is surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico to it's left, and Atlantic Ocean to it's right. But, in between those gorgeous bodies of water are some very underrated lakes that are worth visiting on a weekend.

Take a look at some of the most popular ones below.

Lake Eola

Lake Eola was established in 1888 and is located in one of the most beautiful areas of Downtown Orlando. Though it is not a large lake, it is surprisingly popular and is frequently active and full of life. If you have the chance to visit, be sure to paddle boat, go on a scenic walk, or even grab a souvenir at the gift shop.

lake parker

Lakeland is home to many lakes, hints the name of the city, but Lake Parker is the largest in the city, and is very popular for fishing. Bring your boat out or fish on the shoreline to catch some nice size largemouth bass and bluegill. If you're not into fishing, hike the trail that will guide you to Lake John, or explore one of the other lakes in Lakeland like Hollingsworth, Mirror, or Morton.

Random fact: Lake Morton is home to swans that were gifted from the Queen of England.

lake seminole

This massive lake was established in the 1940's and is one of the largest in Pinellas County. Many visitors tend to enjoy water sports such as jet skiing, fishing, tubing, and boating, or they hike the trails, play volleyball, or host a picnic.

If you're an outdoors fanatic, this lake is begging you to visit on Saturday!

blue cypress lake

Think you like fishing? Blue Cypress Lake has a fishing camp called Middleton's Fish Camp. The lake boasts plenty of amenities for a good weekend. There are camp grounds, picnic areas, and cabins. If you aren't the best at cast netting, work smart, not hard, and stop by the bait shop!

lake okeechobee

Ok, so we said that some of the other lakes were massive, but nothing compares to Lake Okeechobee and it's size. In fact, it's the largest freshwater in the state of Florida. You can absolutely slay some largemouth bass, hike the Florida National Scenic Trail, or stay a few nights at one of the cottages that are available to rent.

lake talquin

Lake Talquin was established in 1927 and is a true beauty that is full of wild life. You may spot a deer or two, some Florida alligators, and even our nations bird, the bald eagle. Located right outside of Tallahassee, this lake is perfect for outdoor recreation because the scenery is jaw-dropping and definitely picture worthy.

lake istokpoga

If you like pontoon boating, this lake is waiting for you to drop in. There are 5 boat ramps, camping grounds, and homes for rent all around Lake Istokpoga. Due to it's shallow waters, Florida's 5th largest lake isn't optimal for outdoor water sports, however, bring your bass boat and you can have a day on the water catching fish left and right.
