Water erosion occurs when runoff, waves or concentrated flow carries soil away from a bank or slope. A durable repair starts by identifying the cause rather than simply covering the damaged area.
What to evaluate
- Where runoff enters the bank
- Wave action and changing water levels
- Bank slope and soil condition
- Mowing, foot traffic and maintenance practices
- Nearby walls, sidewalks, pipes or structures
Depending on the site, stabilization may use grading, vegetation, geotextile systems, B.E.S.T.™, riprap or a combination of methods.
